United Way Day of Action Fleece Blanket Activity
There was a lot of positive energy and excitement at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office on the evening of November 17.  Littles, along with their Bigs and/or family members, gathered together with BBBS staff to take part in a very meaningful project.  Each matched Big and Little had the opportunity to make two non-sew fleece blankets, one for the Little to keep as a “warm” reminder of the day and the other to donate to the Crisis Nursery.  Some of the blankets were donated to the St. Cloud Area Crisis Nursery and some to the Crisis Nursery of Sherburne County.  The Littles were very excited to make the donated blankets for another child to enjoy and it was a powerful message to be reminded of how wonderful GIVING is, especially during the holiday season.

This project was made possible through the generosity of John Opdahl of Fortrinn Information Technology Consulting who donated the money to pay for the material for the blankets, Shirley of Hancock Fabrics who gave us a phenomenal price on the fabric, and Joyce Linn, District Partner, and Debbie Burger, manager of Arby’s Restaurant who donated meals (beef sandwiches, salad, cookies, etc.) making it possible for us to offer this meaningful activity for Bigs/Littles and our staff.  We are so blessed to have individuals/businesses like them supporting our efforts!
