Bowl For Kids Sake

This year's Bowl For Kids' Sake event is October 24, 25 and 26 at Granite Bowl South. The theme is "Bringing the Great Outdoors Indoors," so participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite outdoor activity attire - fishing, camping, hiking, running, biking, hunting/camouflage clothing, anything out-doorsy, have a great time bowling and support the children of central Minnesota in the process.

Participants can bowl individually or form a team of friends, coworkers, family or neighbors and get pledges for bowling - or pledge themselves! Minimum pledge per bowler is $25. The rest is a party to thank you for gathering funds to support the kids.

Time slots will be reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Friday, October 24 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, October 25 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.

2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, October 26 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.

Please call Shari at (320) 258-4511 or email swahlin@bbbscentralmn.org to reserve a bowling time, receive a team packet, and get started on the way to a rewarding and fun experience!

Big Socials
All Bigs are invited to our monthly Big Socials. Every second Tuesday of the month from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, Bigs can get together to socialize with other Bigs. It's a great way to meet new people and share match stories. Bigs are encouraged to bring friends, family members, or co-workers who are interested in learning more about BBBS. Case managers will be on hand to answer questions and socialize too. Join us on Tuesday, September 9, from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Red Carpet Martini Lounge in downtown St. Cloud. You do not need to RSVP, but we hope to see you there.

Pheasant Hunt
Pheasants Forever will host another hunt for our Littles on Saturday, September 27, outside of Albany at Fischer’s Hunt Club. The carpool will meet at Fleet Farm (near the carwash) in Waite Park at 7:15 am and will expect to return around 1:30 pm. Littles will be matched with an experienced hunter for the day. They will get to target shoot before going out in the field. Lunch will be provided. All Littles must have gone through Gun Safety and bring their Gun Safety Certificate with them. Littles do not need to be accompanied by an adult as they will be paired with a hunting mentor; but parents or Bigs can tag along for the experience. There is no charge for the activity. Space is limited to 15 Littles, so please contact Jessie at 320-258-4514 or jlayman@bbbscentralmn.org as soon as possible if you are interested. She can answer questions and will also ask a few questions.

Horseback Riding Activity
Please join us as we go horseback riding on Saturday, October 4, from 11:00 to 3:00 pm. This event is free of charge, thanks to Mary Loch from Broken Wheel Farms (valued at $25 per person). We will learn about horses, have lunch, and then go riding on the trails in the woods. Helmets will be provided. Horseback riding will happen, rain or shine. There is an inside arena in case it rains. This event is open to matches and Littles who are waiting for a Big. However, every child needs to be accompanied by an adult. There is limit of 20 people, so sign up soon to reserve your spot. Please RSVP to your case manager by Friday, September 26. Bring a bag lunch for a picnic if you would like to eat lunch. Don't forget lawn chairs. Please dress appropriately. Wear rubber-based shoes (e.g., tennis shoes, no sandals) and longer socks, making sure that your ankles are covered. Bring your camera! Directions: From St. Cloud, take Highway 15 South to Kimball (19 miles from St. Cloud). Turn right on Highway 55 and go about 5½ miles. Turn left on County Road 2 for four miles. Turn right onto 355th Street. You will see a sign for Broken Wheel Farms. The address is 65636 355th Street, Watkins, MN 55389. Estimated time is 40 minutes from St. Cloud. If you are interested in car pooling, please contact Bethany at 320-258-4515 or btheisen@bbbscentralmn.org.
