Activities, Events, & Workshops

BBBS and the Minnesota Timberwolves

If you are a Big or a Little in our program, you have an opportunity to attend a Timberwolves basketball game at the Target Center.  With the purchase of a discounted ticket by the Big ($35 for lower level, $20 or $15 for upper level), the Little can get into the game free.  Matches may attend as many games as they would like on the game dates listed below.  Along with the free ticket for the Little, both the Big and the Little will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips, and a non-alcoholic beverage.  Participants will also receive a free Timberwolves yearbook and will be able to stay after the game to shoot a free-throw on the Target Center floor. You can purchase these tickets by telephone, and they will be held at Will Call on game day.  A portion of the proceeds for each game will be donated to the three Minnesota Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies.  Call Patrick Foley at 612-673-8392 to order tickets.

Game Dates:  Wednesday, November 26 at 7 pm versus Phoenix; Saturday, December 27 at 7 pm versus Orlando; Wednesday, January 28 at 7 pm versus Detroit; Sunday, February 22 at 6 pm versus LA Lakers; Sunday, March 1 at 6 pm versus Houston; Wednesday, April 15 at 7 pm versus Sacramento

Big Socials
All Bigs are invited to our monthly Big Socials. Every second Tuesday of the month from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, Bigs can get together to socialize with other Bigs. It's a great way to meet new people and share match stories. Bigs are encouraged to bring friends, family members, or co-workers who are interested in learning more about BBBS. Case managers will be on hand to answer questions and socialize too. Join us on Tuesday, December 9th, from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Red Carpet Martini Lounge in downtown St. Cloud. You do not need to RSVP, but we hope to see you there.

Holiday Party
Do you enjoy swimming, pizza, and pop? If so, please join us as we celebrate the holidays on Tuesday, December 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Holiday Inn & Suites in St. Cloud. There is the possibility of a special guest appearance! Bring your bathing suit, towel, and an appetite. This activity is open to matches and waiting Littles. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
When: Tuesday, December 2
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Where: Holiday Inn & Suites, 37th Avenue and West Division Street, St. Cloud
RSVP: If you plan on attending, please call or email your case manager by Wednesday, November 26

Upcoming Workshops*
November 19th: Self Defense. Join us at North Junior High, where staff from Quan Li K'an, including Big Sister Ashley Curtis, will put on a special, free self-defense workshop just for people who are involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Bigs, Littles, and parent/guardians are all invited to learn basic self-defense techniques and practice with a partner.

December 16: Spend, Save, Share. Teaching Children about Money. Join us at the St. Cloud Federal Credit Union on 33rd Avenue behind Arby's. This family-friendly seminar presented by Amy Dingman teaches children about money basics, such as how to spend wisely, the important habit of saving diligently, and the invaluable feeling of sharing money.

*All workshops, unless otherwise noted, will be held at Big Brothers Big Sisters, 15 Sixth Avenue North, St. Cloud, from 6 to 7 pm. Please RSVP to your case manager or to Amanda Toppe, BBBS recruitment coordinator, at 320-248-4538 or atoppe@bbbscentralmn.org. We hope to see you there!
